Diagnosis and Notes
A medium-sized species with greyish wings ornamented with only two pale spots, one over the cross-vein and reaching the costa, the other just beyond the second radial cell. The female AR is 1.11-1.20; the SD 3,11-15. The female is very similar to that of C. pallidicornis; but the males may be separated by the shape of the posterior margin of the ninth tergite, with short, broad apicolateral processes and a very shallow central notch, the membrane spiculate. Campbell & Pelham-Clinton (1960) give a scatter diagram of antennal length against antennal ratio for separating females of this species and pallidicornis, fascipennis and subfasciipennis; but this analysis has not been performed on other species of the subgenus which are all very similar in appearance. The figures are from Glukhova (1989).
