Culicoides dubius Arnaud 1956: 100. Japan

Diagnosis and Notes

Arnaud (1956) discusses the synonymy of this species, which has been known as arcuatus in Japan and also confused with impunctatus. The wing markings are rather vague, similar to both impunctatus and fagineus, but the male genitalia as figured by Arnaud differ from either of these species. The female AR is 1.01-1.12; SD 3,11-15. There are two spermathecae; the third segment of the palp slightly swollen with a number of small sensory pits. The figures are from Arnaud (1956).
