Culicoides malevillei Kremer & Coluzzi 1971: 415. TL Italy
(Kremer & Coluzzi 1971: 415. ♂, ♀, desc, figs)

Diagnosis and Notes

This species was described, mistakenly, in previous papers as inornatipennis. The wing is greyish with numerous macrotrichia, unmarked except for a very small pale area just beyond the second radial cell. The female AR is 1.07-1.19: the SD is 3-15. There are two ovoid spermathecae with short necks. The male was not figured, but is described as having the ventral root of the basistyle long and thin, curved; the parameres simple and tapering, the ninth sternite membrane bare.
The figure of the wing is from Kremer & Coluzzi (1971). The male was not figured.
