Diagnosis and Notes

Wings moderately well marked; macrotrichia present at the tip of the wing and the cubital cell. Third palp segment swollen with a single small but deep sensory pit at the apex of the segment. SD 3, 11-15; AR1.0-1.05. The male genitalia are almost identical to those of C. obsoletus. It may be distinguished from that species by the female having short, blunt sensilla trichodea on the basal antennal segments. In montanus these are about the length of a segment; in obsoletus they are long and taper to a sharp point, about the length of two segments each. The figures of the wing and genitalia are from Glukhova 1989; drawings of antennal sensilla trichodea by JB.
