Austen 1912: 102. TL Uganda
(Austen 1912: 102. ♀, description, fig.)
(Carter, Ingram & Macfie 1920: 245. Notes, ♂, description, fig.)
(Dzhafarov 1964: 276. Description, notes, figs)
(Kremer, Callot & Hommel 1973: 63. Note)
Diagnosis and Notes
The wings are dark greyish with
clearly defined pale spots disposed as others in the festivipennis group; it was included here by
Kremer, Callot & Hommel (1973) on the basis of a record by Dzhafarov
although this was probably a misidentification. The second radial cell is all
dark; the female AR is 1.18-1.47; the SD is 3, 10-14. The male genitalia are
as shown; the parameres straight with only the tips directed outwards, and
the ninth sternite membrane bare.
This species was recorded from Armenia and Azerbajdzhan by Dzhafarov (1964)
but it was most probably mistaken for another of the festivipennis group. It is a species of the
Afrotropical region, where it is widely distributed.
The figure of the wing is from Khamala & Kettle (1971), and that of the
male genitalia from Boorman & Dipeolu (1979).
