Diagnosis and Notes

A medium-sized midge with greyish, unmarked hairy wings. The females of this and of segnis are easily recognised by the very swollen third segment of the palp, with a large deep sensory pit; the basal antennal segments are almost spherical with a large number of very conspicuous sensilla coeloconica. The AR is 1.1-1.49; the SD is3-10. The male genitalia are as shown, the ninth tergite long and tapering with two long apical processes; the aedeagus simple, curved and the parameres bent at right angles for the last third of their length.
