Culicoides yemenensis Boorman 1989: 211. Yemen

Diagnosis and Notes

This is a typical similis-group species, with pale markings on a darker ground. The radial cells are dark, and the pale spot below and beyond the second radial cell is linked to the streak along vein m1 by a third rounded spot. The female AR is 1.16-1.38; the SD is 3-10. The male genitalia are as shown; the ventral root of the basistyles foot-shaped, the aedeagus a simple arch with a broad central piece, and the parameres with five long barbs. The ninth sternite membrane is bare.
The figure of the male genitalia and the diagram of the wing are from Boorman (1989).
